Exercise therapy, also known as therapeutic exercise or rehabilitation exercise, is a  physical activity program for improving health, function, and overall well-being. It utilizes specific exercises  to individual needs and conditions to enhance strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance

Type of EXERCISE THERAPY

AEROBIC EXERCISE

Aerobic exercise such as Walking, Jogging, Swimming or cycling; during rehab helps your heart get stronger, builds muscles, and makes you feel better mentally. It’s important for recovering well and staying healthy in the long run after an injury or illness.

Aerobic exercise helps to strengthen muscles around the joints, improving joint stability and reducing pain and stiffness associated with arthritis

STRENGTH TRAINING

Strength training involves exercises using resistance (weights, resistance bands, body weight) to build muscle strength and endurance. It helps in improving muscle tone, bone density, and metabolism.

It helps in musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, osteoporosis and improve joint mobility, reduce pain.  

FLEXIBILITY EXERCISE

Flexibility exercises are designed to stretch and lengthen muscles and tendons, improving the range of motion of joints. These exercises include static stretches, dynamic stretches, and activities like yoga or Pilates that focus on increasing flexibility and reducing muscle tension.

Flexibility exercises are beneficial for managing stiffness, improve posture, and enhance joint mobility, which is particularly beneficial for individuals with conditions such as arthritis, back pain, or tight muscles.

BALANCE EXERCISE

Balance exercises focus on improving stability, coordination, and proprioception (awareness of body position in space). These exercises often involve standing on one leg, using balance boards, or practicing yoga poses that challenge equilibrium.

Balance exercises are particularly beneficial for older adults and individuals with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or those recovering from stroke.
